Team of the Week

Who was the Week 6 High School Team of the Week?

Grand Prairie High School
Grand Prairie High School has an exceptional understanding that not all students are alike and don’t necessarily require the exact same curriculum. At GPHS, teachers strive to assist students in getting the quality education they need, allowing them the opportunity to pursue a college or vocational track. Students at GPHS are encouraged to uphold a high standard of discipline and pride in their accomplishments. With an array of extracurricular activities available, students are able to explore and build upon their strengths. This season, the GP Gophers have started out strong with a 4-1 lead.

South Grand Prairie High School
“Honor, Pride, and Spirit”, that’s the South Grand Prairie way! South Grand Prairie teachers and staff are dedicated to promoting the belief that each student has the power to make a positive difference within their surroundings. Students take part in various community programs, aimed to address problems many teenagers may face on a daily basis. Such programs include anti-bullying rallies, Shattered Dreams, and even the NFL-Texas Army National Guard’s “High School Player Development” program where student athletes run through drills on the field and are taught the Army Values of working together as a team. This year, the Warriors seem prepared to tackle the rest of the season maintaining a 4-2 record.

Please note that this vote is being offered in the true spirit of competition. Should the Dallas Cowboys feel that any tampering occurred over the course of the voting window, we reserve the right to eliminate the online voting results and make an internal decision on the winner.

The Texas Army National Guard and Dallas Cowboys continue their support of high school football programs across North Texas through the High School Team of the Week program.

Each week during the 10-week high school football season, Texas Army National Guard recruiters working in local North Texas high schools will nominate two teams as the Team of the Week. Students, faculty, parents and football fans everywhere will select their favorite team through an online voting hosted on DallasCowboys.com.

The team accumulating the most votes at the conclusion of the voting window will be named the Dallas Cowboys Texas Army National Guard Team of the Week!

“We are very excited about renewing our partnership with the Dallas Cowboys and partnering with them on the Team of the Week program that honors top high school football teams across the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex” said Maurice Weidler, SFC, Texas National Guard.

Each winning team will receive a $1,000 grant provided by the Dallas Cowboys for their  football program. Ten teams in all will be selected to receive grants over the course of the season and check presentations will be made during an in-school pep rally or team practice with assistance from Cowboys mascot ROWDY and Texas Army National Guard personnel.

“The Dallas Cowboys are extremely proud to partner with the Texas Army National Guard to honor high school football teams in our area,” said Charlotte Jones Anderson, Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer. “By working together to honor these young athletes for a job well done, we can increase interest and pride in the game of football.”
